List of vessels which left the Inner Hebrides (Tobermory) for Canada,
1803-1853.
(Also includes sailings from Skye.)
The list below gives details of early ship crossings
from Tobermory in the Isle of Mull to ports in Canada. Because of its
good harbour and central location Tobermory acted as a major collecting
point for emigrant ship sailings from the Inner Hebridean Islands. As a
result the emigrants who travelled on these ships did not necessarily
originate from Mull and may have come from nearby Islands like Tyree and
Coll or from places along the mainland coast. Some emigrant sailings
also took place from Skye and they are included.
